About

Noelle Connell is an artist who primarily works with acrylic (though occasionally dabbles with watercolor and gouache) and is in love with the girly, the cute and the feminine. In her early works, she drew inspiration from these concepts and styles and created works that were colorful; full of pinks and pastels but also straightforward and flat and two-dimensional (not unlike the Superflat style). While her work is still straightforward and two-dimensional, her views and interpretation of the feminine is currently evolving into a darker and more mature palette that exudes richness, elegance and simplicity. This can be seen in her newer works which depict portraits and silhouettes of girls and women.

As to the purpose of Noelle’s works, the pieces are an ode to and celebration of femininity. Noelle expressly wishes to embrace the feminine because it is an aesthetic that she adores, and because femininity (as defined by women) has historically been undervalued by society and she yearns for it to be appreciated, acknowledged and celebrated in all of its girly glory.
